Non-owner

Can I put my car in storage, turn in tags, and switch to non-owner FR44 in Florida?

Yes, if there is truly no vehicle left in your name. Non-owner FR44 is for a driver, not a stored car you still own.

We've talked to people who parked a car in a garage, kept the title, and tried to buy non-owner to save money. If the vehicle is still registered to you, that is usually still an owner risk. Turning in the tag and getting the title out of your name is the part that changes the product.

And the FR44 has to stay continuous while you switch. Cancel the owner policy before the non-owner filing is on the DHSMV record, and you can create a lapse.

We shop 15+ carriers for the non-owner FR44 at 100/300/50, then we file electronically the same day you purchase. Cost still varies. We will not invent a monthly number.
