My car is financed. Do I need an owner FR44?
If the car is financed and it is in your name, you need an owner FR44, not a non-owner policy.
The DHSMV still wants 100/300/50 on file. Your lender still wants the car insured. Non-owner coverage follows you as a driver. It does not protect a financed vehicle the way an owner policy can. We've talked to people who tried to keep a loan payment going with a non-owner FR44 underneath it. That is how you end up with a lender problem and a DHSMV problem at the same time.
We shop 15+ carriers for owner FR44, including options that can add comprehensive and collision if the loan requires it. Then we file electronically the same day you purchase. Cost varies, and we quote it before you buy.
