If my Florida DUI is dismissed, do I still need to carry FR44, and how do I get it removed?

A court dismissal and the DHSMV record are not always the same thing.

We've talked to people whose criminal case went away and the FR44 requirement was still sitting on the driving record. FR44 follows a DUI conviction (§ 324.023). A dismissed DUI charge doesn't meet that by itself, though a separate administrative suspension may still be running. Check the requirement list on your FLHSMV record before buying or cancelling.

If the requirement is still open, you keep 100/300/50 in force and we keep the FR44 filed. If the DHSMV has actually cleared it, we can look at dropping the certificate and re-shopping regular coverage. Guessing from a court paper is how people lapse.
