Carriers

If I switch FR44 carriers mid-term, do I get a refund of unused premium?

A refund is a carrier contract question. Florida does not stamp unused premium back onto your FR44.

We've talked to people who switched mid-term and found nothing came back, especially on a policy written as six months pay in full. Other companies will pro-rate. The rule that applies to you is on your declarations page, not in a thread from last year.

So do not cancel the old policy until the new carrier has actually filed the FR44 or SR22. A gap is worse than a lost refund, because the DHSMV can re-suspend you and the clock can get ugly.

We shop 15+ carriers before you bind, and we tell you how that company handles a mid-term cancel. Then we file electronically the same day you purchase. Filing same day is not a promise the DHSMV has already printed your license.

Still need an answer for your own case?

Every FR44 situation has details a page can't cover. Tell us yours and we'll shop it across our carriers and file the same day you buy.
