Can I wait out three years from conviction without carrying FR44 and have it fall off?

Sitting out three years from the conviction date without an FR44 does not make the requirement disappear.

Florida typically wants the FR44 kept in force for three years, and the clock usually starts on reinstatement, not the arrest and not the day you pleaded. We've talked to people who stayed off the road, counted three calendar years, then found FLHSMV still wanted the filing before the license would clear.

And it has to be consecutive. If you never file, you never start the clock. If you file and then lapse, the carrier notifies the DHSMV and the three years can start over.
